ARTIST'S
STATEMENT
For me weaving
is a never ending adventure; I am fascinated
with the vast variety of materials and techniques which provide many creative
avenues to explore. I weave with wire using traditional weaving techniques
and patterns to create contemporary wall hangings. The kimonos are created
from bronze, copper or stainless steel screening and embellished with scraps
of wire from the weavings, electronic odds and ends, and a variety of found
treasures. My purpose is to use late 20th century materials, primarily from
the electronics industry, to create pieces that have a look and feel of previous
centuries yet are contemporary.
