Susan McGehee weaves pieces using solely wire and metal in both the weft and warp. Incorporating traditional weaving techniques and patterns she uses a computerized 16 harness dobby loom to weave lightweight pieces from mostly anodized aluminum wire which will not tarnish or change color. She creates contemporary wall hangings, that seem to float on the wall and are complementary to both residential and commercial spaces. Widths range from 2 inches to 24 inches and can be as long as 40 feet. The pieces are easy to install and maintain.
Even though some of the pieces look to be copper weavings the wire used is anodized aluminum that is lighter than copper and will keep its shine. The woven-in ribbons are copper strips that has been embossed with subtle patterns.
